This division serves as the backbone of the department and plays a crucial role in public safety. Patrol is a 24/7 uniformed position, with more than 70% of the department's sworn officers assigned to patrol duties. These officers respond to a wide range of service calls, from minor traffic accidents to major crimes in progress. Patrol officers are the first responders to any situation requiring law enforcement assistance.

Our patrol officers respond to a variety of calls for services:

  • Responding to 911 calls for service
  • Initiating crime investigations
  • Conducting traffic enforcement
  • Enforcing city ordinances and statutes
  • Patrolling residential and business areas

The division is made up of 12 Patrol Officers and four Patrol Sergeants, all Sunset Patrol Unit Photographsupervised by a Lieutenant. The Patrol Officers drive marked vehicles, primarily Ford Explorers. They are equipped with the latest technology, and the patrol squad uses top-quality, state-of-the-art equipment to ensure their safety and efficiency. Each Patrol Officer is assigned a specific area within the city limits to optimize response times for calls for service and emergencies.

The Lago Vista Police Department embraces a community policing philosophy, prioritizing proactive collaboration with residents to address issues and foster partnerships. Community policing is a fundamental aspect of our patrol division. Our department is dedicated to providing excellent law enforcement services to our citizens.

Our Patrol Officers are highly trained and equipped to deliver exceptional service to our community. Each officer completes a Field Training Program overseen by one of our Sergeants. Many of our officers are designated as Mental Health Officers and utilize this specialized training to effectively interact with individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Our department conducts annual in-service training to ensure that our officers remain proficient in a variety of topics. Furthermore, officers receive extensive specialized training each year.
