Looking to see if a door-to-door salesperson is registered with us? View our list of active solicitor permits (PDF) here. Permit holders are responsible for producing their active permit if requested, and if no permit is produced, you may contact the Lago Vista Police Department at (512)267-7141.
All solicitors and peddlers must have a permit with a few exceptions.
- Solicitors are defined as any person who, without invitation, travels from door to door and requests the donation of money, property, or anything of value, or the pledge of future donation of money, property, or anything of value. The term shall not include a canvasser. Licenses are valid for one (1) year from the date of purchase.
- Peddlers are defined as any person who, without invitation, travels from door-to-door, and offers goods, services, wares, subscriptions, photographs, or other merchandise for sale, or any person engaging or engaging in the business of distributing flyers or advertising a commercial good, event, or service.
Please note that this does not include Census workers, City Employees, Package delivery drivers, and others who go door-to-door but do not fit these requirements. Read our Code of Ordinances for more information.

Safety Tips
- Ensure the solicitor has their Lago Vista Police Department-issued permit, if not you may ask to see it signed by Chief Gary A. Boshears
- Anytime someone is at your door whom you do not know, it is best to speak behind a locked door.
- Do not engage in conversation with the solicitor if you are not interested in their product or service.
- Do not let the solicitor inside your home.
- If you have a "No Solicitor" or "No Trespassing" sign in your yard or on your door, do not answer the door or simply ask them to leave.
- Contact the Lago Vista Police Department by calling (512) 267-7141 if you have concerns about the solicitor at your door.
