Education and Tours

Tours

The police department can provide children and groups with a tour of the police department while giving children an opportunity to meet with a police officer.  The specific topics covered can be varied by request but typically cover a police officer’s job and proper use of 9-1-1 along with specifically requested safety topics. The tour can also include a police vehicle with an opportunity for the children to sit in the back of the unit.  Other topics that may be covered include bicycle safety, fingerprinting, stranger safety, online safety, and much more. Tours should be scheduled at least two weeks in advance with a minimum of 10 guests requested and a maximum of 30 people.

Due to standing meetings and appointments, Wednesday evenings are not available for any tour or educational class schedule.

For groups with children under the age of 6, there is a required 1 adult to every 2 children ratio, and we cannot do tours of more than 10 children in that age group during normal business hours.

If you are interested in scheduling a tour, please e-mail Executive Assistant Crystal Street or call (512)267-7141 and she will assist you with scheduling this training.
