Necessary Qualifications for Applicants
In addition to any qualifications prescribed by ordinance, each appointee to City boards and commissions shall:
- Be a registered voter of the City;
- Be a resident of the City and have resided therein for at least 12 consecutive months preceding his/her appointment; and
- Not be in financial arrears to the City for any reason.

Airport Advisory Board
The Airport Advisory Board was created to identify needs and advise the City Council of their short-range and long-range implications for the total development of the Airport Recommend achievable goals as a basis for long-range planning and development programs of the Airport.

Board of Adjustment
The Board of Adjustment is charged with the responsibility to either approve, alter or deny requests made by a property owner for a variance to provisions of the existing municipal zoning ordinance or appeals of a decision by a municipal authority concerning the Building Code and the Zoning Ordinance.

Building & Standards Commission
The Building & Standards Commission was created to have overall authority and responsibility to monitor, review and make recommendations to the City Council concerning building, flood damage prevention, unsafe building, and sign construction standards, processes, and ordinances in the City.

Charter Review Committee
The Charter Review Committee is a group of citizens that were carefully selected by the City Council to review the City Charter and make recommendations into the operations of the City government as related to the Charter and review the Charter to determine if amendments should be recommended.

Economic Development Advisory Committee
The Economic Development Advisory Committee was created to identify the needs concerning the local economy and to advise the City Council of their short-range and long-range implications for the delivery of the development of a healthy/diversified community to include businesses and opportunities.

Golf Course Advisory Committee
The Golf Course Advisory Committee was created to identify needs and to advise the City Council of their short-range and long-range goals as well as provide collaborative efforts and feedback to boost playability and increase revenue for the Golf Course.

Library Advisory Board
The Library Advisory Board is created to identify needs and to advise the City Council of their short-range and long-range implications for the delivery of Library services.

Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee was created to identify the needs of the community in a recreational capacity and to advise the City Council of their short-range and long-range implications for the City amenities.

Planning & Zoning Commission
The Planning and Zoning Commission was created as an advisory board to discuss and inspect all aspects of planning, use, and development of land and related matters as provided by ordinance. Recommend a comprehensive plan for land use and the physical development of the City and its extraterritorial jurisdiction.

Youth Advisory Committee
The Youth Advisory Committee consists of a body of High School Students who act in an advisory, service and support capacity with respect to any potential initiative or opportunity undertaken jointly with the staff or city council within municipal limits of the city or its extraterritorial jurisdiction.
