Benefits

Benefits are an important part of our employee's overall compensation.  The City of Lago Vista is pleased to offer a comprehensive array of benefits to protect our employees and their family's  health and welfare.  Below is the current offering of benefits for our employees.


Insurance

Health

Provider: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX)

Insurance for employee only is paid at 100% by the City.

PPO Plan, $500 in-network deductible, $1000 out-of-network deductible and $3,000 out-of-pocket maximum, BCBS Prescription Plan

  • Medical Coverage for Family: $2614.43 minus $1593.42 paid by City equals $1021.51 monthly cost to employee.
  • Employee and Spouse: $1940.04 minus $1429.59 paid by City equals $510.45 monthly cost to employee.
  • Employee and Children: $1518.36 minus $1327.31 paid by City equals $191.05 monthly cost to employee.

Dental

Provider: The Standard

Employee and Family Dental is covered at 100%.

Vision

Provider: Blue Cross Blue Shield of  Texas (BCBSTX)  through  EYEMED

Vision Coverage is available on a voluntary basis ($9.47 monthly cost for Employee, $17.99 monthly cost for EE and Spouse, $18.93 monthly cost for EE and Children or $ 27.83 monthly cost for Family)

Life and AD&D

Provider: Blue Cross Blue Shield of  Texas (BCBSTX)  through DEARBORN

$20,000 Basic Life and AD&D for employee only is covered at 100%.

Employee can purchase additional life insurance up to 3 times the salary with a maximum of $300,000 (cost varies by age).

Long Term Disability

Provider: Blue Cross Blue Shield of  Texas (BCBSTX)

LTD coverage is available at no cost to the employee.  Disability insurance provides benefits that replace part (60%) of the employees income after the 180th day of disability.

Health Reimbursement Account

Provider: Flores 

City contributes $50 per month per employee into HRA account.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Provider: Alliance Work Partners

The Employee Assistance Program can help our employees and their family members resolve problems that affect personal life or job performance.  This program is paid for by the City and is completely confidential.

Other Optional Coverages

  • Aflac - Accident, cancer, heart attack/stroke and short term disability insurance.
  • Colonial Life - Accident, cancer, critical illness, disability, hospital confinement indemnity and life insurance.
  • Nationwide - 457 Deferred Compensation.
  • LegalShield - Legal and Identity Theft plans.

Retirement

Provider: Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS)

Participation required, 6% employee contribution, vested after 5 years, 2-to-one1 city match, retirement at or after age 60 or at any age after 20 years of participation.

Accidental death and disability benefits are also incorporated into this retirement plan should an employee become disabled prior to retirement.

Longevity

$25 for 1st year of employment, $25 each year thereafter up to $500 per year maximum.

Time off

Vacation Leave

10 days per year from the 1st through 5th year of employment.

1 additional day per year 6th year and ending with a maximum of 20 days the fifteenth year (Example: 6 years equals 11 days per year, 7 years, which equals 12 days per year, etc.).

Sick Leave

12 days per year.
