The 9 PM Routine typically includes tips such as:
- Remove valuables from your car.
- Lock your car.
- Turn on the outside lights.
- Lock up your home.
Since its origination, the 9 p.m. Routine has been adopted by law enforcement agencies all over the U.S. It continues to provide value to communities by raising awareness and providing simple prevention tips.
“If you see something, say something.”
Participating in the 9 P.M. Routine
Set a reminder, and at 9 P.M. each evening, ensure the following tasks have been completed:
- Vehicles, residences, garages, windows, gates, and sheds have been locked.
- Exterior lights, security cameras, and alarm systems have been activated.
- Valuables from vehicles (including keys), yards, and patios have been brought inside.
By participating in the 9 P.M. Routine, residents can help reduce the opportunity for burglaries and thefts.
Report Criminal Activity to the Police for Investigation
Lago Vista Police officers proactively patrol Lago Vista’s neighborhoods to identify and prevent criminal activity. The active involvement of residents enhances the department’s efforts. When residents call to report criminal activity, they aid not only the police but help make their neighborhoods a safer place to live and work. Community members observing in-progress criminal activity should contact the Lago Vista Police Department Communications Center at (512)267-7141 or dial 9-1-1 in an emergency.
