Our Department

The City of Lago Vista is served by a professional, highly-trained police force that is dedicated to the safety of everyone who lives, works, and plays in our community. Our department is committed to making Lago Vista a safe city that everyone can enjoy through working in partnership with our community and excellence in our delivery of law enforcement services.

The Lago Vista Police Department consists of 21 sworn employees and 10 civilian employees. We are assigned to patrol, criminal investigations, communications, code enforcement, animal control, and administrative divisions. Sworn officers in the department consist of one Chief of Police, one Captain, one Lieutenant, four Patrol Sergeants, two Investigators, and twelve Patrol Officers. Over 75% of the department’s sworn personnel are assigned to patrol functions.

The Police Department provides high-visibility, proactive patrol of the City of Lago Vista, responds to 911 calls and calls for service, investigates criminal offenses, enforces traffic laws and city ordinances, monitors registered sex offenders, crime prevention activities, and many other services to the citizens of Lago Vista. Our department operates an Emergency Communications Center which provides 24 / 7 emergency communications for the City of Lago Vista. Our Communications Center handles over 25,000 calls annually!
